Mandi: The SynCubator, a multifunctional neonatal incubator developed by a team at IIT Mandi, has been chosen for Stanford Biodesign Innovators Garage program. It's designed for transporting and providing critical care to newborns, doubling as a standalone warmer and an incubator with features like portability, temperature control, humidity maintenance, remote control via an app, video monitoring, vital monitoring, phototherapy, and weight measurement. SynCubator addresses healthcare challenges in regions with limited medical facilities, such as Himachal Pradesh. The program aims to develop a manufacturable and scalable product, with plans to launch within 1.5 to 2 years. With India's high neonatal mortality rates, SynCubator promises to improve healthcare outcomes and leverage AI and ML technologies for predictive interventions. Its selection for Stanford Biodesign Garage highlights its potential to revolutionize neonatal care and contribute to equitable healthcare access in India. The fellowship offers a 10-month transformative experience for innovators.
