The Joint Publishing Cultural Fund Limited, Hong Kong organising a workshop on Perspectives of Indian Cultures to present the nuances of Indian culture to the Hong Kong Chinese community. One of the sessions on Mythology was presenting the Indian Gods by Kuchipudi dancer Ms. Jackie Law. The presentation was done with Kuchipudi dance videos depicting the mythological characters of Vishnu, Siva, Parvathi, Sarawathi and many more. It was wonderful for her to do the dance poses of gods in between her talk to lay the foundation for the upcoming class on Classical Dance. There was a display of small statues of some of those gods mentioned during the lecture like Shiva, Parvathi, Durga, Ganesha, Krishna and Saraswathi for the participants to assimilate the knowledge gained.
More than 20 participated in this workshop scheduled for 8 sessions on various Indian Cultural features. There was lot of interest among the participants who are interested in knowing multi-cultures, taking notes and capturing the PPT screens on their phones for future reference.
Ms. Anne Lee was full of enthusiasm organising this event. Presenters are Aaron Tang(Religion and Site visit), Jackie Law(Mythology, Clothing and Classical dance), Lui Kwok Wai(classical music), Lilian Fung( Ayurveda and Head massage) and April Yeung(Henna). Yoga is very popular in Hong Kong. Workshop on Perspectives of Indian Cultures is a good initiative to impart more knowledge to the Hong Kong community.
The Workshop started on 21th February on Religion and 28th Feb on Mythology and will go on with a site visit to temple on Mar 3rd Sunday and other lectures on Clothing(6/3), Classical dance(13/3), Classical music(20/3), Ayurveda(27/3), Head massage(3/4)and Henna(10/4).
